There are two settings you need to check. 1 be sure that yoru transmit
equalizer is disabled, or set to off. If this does not solve the issue
you may return the transmit eq to the setting you prefer, and check
the settings of the processor. You also need to be sure that you are
not set to narrow band fm instead of wide band fm on the uhf side. Any
of these can result in low or distorted audio. I generally enable a
mild ammount of processing to even out the variations when I use cross
band repeat on the 2000 and find it gives good results.
One note I wil add is when you are operating throgh a repeater, be
sure to turn the uhf side power output down a bit, as the radio can
get rather warm if a repeater causes lots of long transmissions back
to the ht. generally 5 to 10 watts is more than sufficent to get back
to the handheld, since you will be unable to read the radio from the
ht befor eyou will have difficulty hearing the signal from the 2000.
thanks and enjoy.
Please write me off list if you would like to discuss this further.
