Is the radio in the CW mode? I forget what you run for a radio but usually 
you either have to hit the send button or for full break in on the Kenwood 
radios you turn the vox on or some radios had a separate full break in 
button like the 940, 440 and some other older radios. I know the TS-440 it 
was the switch on top which I think also did turn on the VOX. I don't know 
what your running but most likely that's the problem.
