Goldwave will do the conversion without having to capture the audio in real
time. It will then automatically split the mp3's into whatever time or size
you want. I do it all the time, usually in batch mode.

Bob, As far as I know, there is no program to directly convert audible files
to mp3. However,
having said that, it is quite easy to do using a program such as Total
Recorder, Gold Wave, or
Recall pro. It is simply a matter of recording the audible file as it
plays.
