Alan,

It is pretty loud when tuning. When it stops clacking, it has found a
match. If it can't find a match after 15 seconds or so, it will send a
long series of beeps.

It will send "QRO" if it isn't getting enough power to tune, "QRP" if
too much tuning power is applied, and "QRT" if you exceed the 1500 watt
limit. It will also go into bypass to protect itself (hopefully).

I don't know what radio you will use it with, or what radio's have
cables from MFJ, but the interface is pretty slick if you can use it.
When interfaced to one of my Kenwood's, it you push the tune button on
the radio, the radio drops to 10 watts CW, the internal tuner is
disabled and the external tuner tunes. After the tune, the radio
returns to previous mode and power setting.

There is an audio version of the manual on the active elements web site.

If Stan wants to donate any other gear to a good cause, I'm good on QRZ.
