Hi Rich;

The 746 PRO is accessible.

Even though the PL tone is dialed in with the vfo knob, if you know the tone
of the repeater your trying to bring up you can turn the dial and
approximate where you are until you turn the repeater on.

On the receive end, you can wait until their is a net on the repeater or get
someone to bring up the repeater and dial in the pl tone. As long as it
re-transmits the pl tone.

However, the 7000 in my opinion is just not work the aggravation.

If you can't remember where the menu was set when you used it last, it can
create a real problem.

This is true because the menu has every day user settings in it including
power levels and audio levels.

These are my observations.

While the 746 pro has a better receiver than the 2000, I would still go with
the 2000.

I don't think the differences are that much better to be overly concerned
about them.

But, that's just my opinion.
