If you are getting pop-ups through Windows Messenger, go to
http://www.GRC.COM

Click on the free stuff link, then look for kill the instant messenger.

It is a 22K .exe file which will disable the annoying Windows Messenger.
But, you can still run the Windows Messenger instant messaging service which
is different from the Windows Messenger network broadcasts which are in Win
XP, 2000, and I think ME as well.

This is becoming more and more commonly exploited by spammers.

Okay, these pop-ups are coming through the Windows Messenger and I checked
the system tray to see if it was there and it wasn't.  How can I double
check to see that McCaffey is disabled for good so when my auth disc does
get here I won't have to worry about runing it or anything like that?
