Ok, time now for some ichonoclastic, and athistic beliefs.
I have a few years ago givenup soldering.
I never solder my connectors.
I use the ones that thread on to the coax,threading them on to the braid,
then leading the center conductor into the tip,and crimping it over the
outside of the barrel of the tip.
This insures a good connection,and I can't for the life of me see why I must
solderthese things. Further more, itmeans,when a connection gives up the
ghost, I simply re-trim, and reuse the connector.
Is it possible that this soldering business is a conspiracy amongst the
connector manufacturers?Arguably this could get lossy with vhf, and uhf
apps, but I haven't been able to varyfy this.
As for hf, I see no real problemswith this.
