If I decide to support a Yaesu, it will be to give blind hams access to a
different line of rigs they haven't had access to before. Like it or not,
we're a small share of the market, and considering our average purchasing
power, an even smaller segment than the raw numbers indicate.

That's why I support the Flex rigs, in addition to the fact that I wanted
one. In fact, after using the Flex for a while now, it has become my
preferred rig. I can control it from the computer, and don't have to reach
up to turn nobs and flip switches. I never thought I'd make such a
statement, but there you go.

I'm making some improvements to JJRadio with that in mind. For example,
currently the logging window takes over the program, and you can't control
the rig while logging. That needs to change. The logging window will be
separate from the control window, and you'll be able to control the rig with
the logging window up.

Jim, if I could do what your doing which is wonderful, I would not waste one
minute on Yaesu rigs, they don't give a dam about the blind and never will
but to each his own. 73

Michael, thanks. My sense is to wait for things at Ten-Tec to settle down a
bit. It appears they're going to continue, and I've been impressed with
their willingness to help us, but with the company up in the air, and very
few blind folks with Ten-Tecs, I think I'll hold off where they're
concerned.

My sense is to go with an Icom rig. A friend locally has an IC9100 he'd
like me to support. That's Icoms TS-2000, covering the HF bands plus 2
meters and 440. Yaesu is a distinct possibility too, especially sense they
don't have speech supported in their rigs.

Hi Jim:
Well your probably gonna guess where I'd like to see your software go with
regards to future supported rigs. LOL As for TT, have you been told when you
might receive 1 and what model?
I suspect that TT won't be releaszing anything until possible the winter of
2017 as Dishtronics is currently focused on probably the new amp and
relateds. To be objective, maybe you should look at the affordable side of
things as a basis. Icom vs Yaesu, IC-7100 VS the FT-991 etc. Which rig
vender has a more of a following for the blind, after Kenwood, keeping
affordability in mind, which I would think would be Icom. I know Elecraft
has a following but I'm not likely to spend upwards of 3500CDN on a 10W QRP
rig, let alone 5000 for the K-3S but that's just me. I'm thinking of a new
rig in the next 2 or 3 years and I'm a Yaesu guy so likely will be an FT-991
with the N4PY software or yours if you go Yaesu.
Just my thoughts.
