I had a Drake tr-3 for a time (sold it traded or whatever, while still working) and I recall one evening operating on 75 meters with an antenna network of homebrew (me) on a peace of plywood and airdux with appropriated capacitors and alligator clips.  I would set the   super size bucket of iced tea on the corner of the plywood on the shelf above the Drake.  Needless to say one night I  gave the rig a bath but after replacing the house fuse and letting the rig dry out for a couple of hours it was back in operation after taking the reverse of the vacuum cleaner to the unit and some additional touch up wit the cool setting on the wife's hair dryer.  Ah great rigs and likely hardier than the solid state of today.
