Yeah, I know the feeling about wondering what in the heck we are doing up
here in the North Country!

The contests you heard were probably either the Virginia QSO Party, or maybe
the Oklahoma QSO Party. You probably would have been in a good spot to hear
both on 40.

I'm now bummed that I missed the 10-meter opening, and especially the YL you
mentioned. If you hear her again, please let us know on the list, so we can
try to have a qso with her.

Later tonight and tomorrow, I'm going to test the Windom out more
thoroughly. Just haven't had the time yet today.

Didn't hear anything near Chicago Tom. Some kind of contest at .185
and some jerk sending dots and saying CQ in a stupid voice. On
another note, ten meters was barely open here, but a ham named
Michelle was on perhaps 28.4 from Kuracel and owned the band!! Nice
signal, working fours, fives and eights one after another. She
sounded American - what a wonderful way to spend one's vacation,
sitting in the warm sun and running a killer signal!!
Forty-five and sunny here. What am I doing wrong!!
