Hi Harvey,

The questions you ask are screen reader dependent to a great degree. Using
JAWS, either under the verbosity settings--many of which are
temporary--meaning that when you exit the browser and launch it again, you
would have to create the setting again or under the configuration manager
(earlier versions of JAWS) or the settings center (JAWS 12) you can
permanently set the page to not refresh. In verbosity settings, press insert
+ V and then move down to the page refresh settings. Turn auto refresh off
by pressing space bar until the option is selected. Then press enter to
close the settings. You can also create personalized verbosity settings for
a particular page by adding the shift key to the initial hotkey as in insert
+ shift + V. You then proceed as above by selecting the page refresh option
and switching it from automatic to off.

This only applies to JAWS. If you are using Window-Eyes, someone else will
have to give instructions.

With JAWS, however, sometimes making this choice has no effect. The best
example are sports pages such as Yahoo sports sports.yahoo.com and other
sites where constant updating is going on during sports events. On these
pages, nothing seems to stop the page from refreshing.

So the situation on some pages can be quite difficult. I hope this helps a
bit.

Subject: OT question

Does anyone know how to stop an Internet site screen from refreshing? We
have one here, WWL Radio, that does nothing but refresh, and it is throwing
things off terribly for me.

Also, does anyone know how to turn off the graphic numbers?
Harvey
