Yes, and if you tamper inside the coffee maker, if there is a warrantee the
store does not have to honor it.  I'd take it back to where you bought it
and see if they will replace it.  Even if there is only a 30 day return
policy, they might honor it beyond that point if this is a factory defect.

Mark, There has been coffee pots catch fire at times and burn homes down so 
I wouldn't mess with changing components if you don't know what your doing. 
You can buy a Mr. coffee 5 cup for 20 bux or less at Wallmart so good luck.
