To add a somewhat different slant on this thread,
it is very frustrating to hear ad's for website development the
latest one I have heard about iswix.com that let's people
create their own websites. Do any of these web developer sites
ever consider accessibility? Are they given the opportunity to
build it in from the beginning? And, back on scanners, I think
it's time to bug Whistler again about their developing line of
scanners since they bought out the PSR line from GRE America.
Think I will send another reminder email. 73, Jim

I couldn't agree more with Butch on this one.

It's truly ironic that accessibility is becoming more of an issue
these days
when it comes to so many technology applications, when it should
be the
other way around.

I face this every semester at my University as new applications
are rolled
out with no concern for adaptive software compatibility, despite
my service
on a number of committees that are supposed to deal with this
exact issue.
Somehow, we get glossed over when the higher-ups make the
necessary
decisions.

As for technology in general, I find this true as well.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not a pessimistic person. ... It's just
what I'm
seeing every day, and it gets rather disconcerting.

Yep, I agree totally. Sad part is I think we're losing access
these days
when the technology is there to help if they would just use it.
I'm talking
everything from internet pages to new appliances with touch
screens. And of
course there are those who think just because they can use and
love their i
phones, that an i phone is the solution for everyone.
grrrrrrr.
