    Gary:

I agree with you 100% on sharing the NCS function. In fact, I'll make an
advanced announcement here. I won't be available on Sunday: January 17th,
because of a necessary work-related trip. So, if anyone wants to take the
net on the 17th, just let me know.

Regarding the echo-link net, I certainly support the idea, and don't see why
we couldn't run both the SSB and echo-link nets on a week-end. Maybe the
echo-link net could be done sometime on Saturdays. Either way, though, I
think the echo-link net idea would best be served with a net control who is
quite comfortable with echo-link, and its various aspects.

Thanks Tom, I wasn't sure if I was getting out. The Echolink sounds
interesting. I know that Handiham does it on Wednesday night net, so it is
possible over the weekend. Wonder if we used that node? as for NCS, it
would be great to have it shared by others, so one NCS doesn't get burned
out. Gary KB2YAA

Subject: record-setting net today!

Well, for those of you who don't know, or who missed it, we had a record 27
check-ins for this afternoon's cross-country blind ops net. The net ran for
an hour and 27 minutes.

I hope folks had as much fun as I did, just hearing the variety of people
and locations that were represented.

On the net this afternoon, Bob (K8LR) suggested that we try an echo-link net
sometime, for those who can't seem to get into our HF net festivities.

I got to thinking about the echo-link possibility, and would like to propose
that we keep doing the SSB net as usual, now that we are finding 20 meters
to work much better, but maybe have the echo-link net at some other day and
time? I'm willing to continue holding down the fort on the SSB net, but am
thinking that it would be good if someone else with a particular interest in
Echo-link could spearhead the echo-link operation.

This way, we'll have two nets, and two ways to talk with each other.

I'd be curious to know what everyone else thinks.
