Hi Richard,

I don't know about more sophisticated than any other radio. I have a 480,
love it, but I find the speech processing is about the same as the TS-2000.
You can control mic gain, transmit equalization, bandwidth, compression
level and processor gain out. The beautiful thing about these in the 480 is
that all of these levels and settings read in speech. However, they are
exactly the same ones on the TS-2000. I don't know about any other radios.

I saw a message from John Miller on here. Personally, I find the face plate
not to be a disadvantage at all. My 480 radio is actually mounted on the
back side of the kick plate here on my computer desk I use for my station
and the control panel is hung from the shelf on which my monitor sits. You
can't believe the room this opens on the operating surface for extras that I
had to stack before such as my P-2000CW and the room that leaves for other
things such as one of my computer speakers. All in all, I like the setup
and I don't find the cable running between control panel and radio to be
flimsy at all.

Everyone take care and very 73.

Hi Folks,

This is by way of a suggestion.
I am told that the Kenwood 480 has a much more sophisticated Speech =
processing system than any other Rig on the market.
