Hi all:
When I 1ST operated remote, I used a Cyber Acoustics headset mic combo, the kind you can find at your local Wall Mart for about 20 bucks connected to my PC and through skype.
I got exceptional audio reports with this headset mic and I thought of adapting it for my present remote setup or using it as a traveller set for FD and the like.
Right now, my setup is as follows:
Microbit Remote Rig 1258MkII Radio RRC, connected to my FT-450's mic jack via the supplied standard patch cable, with RJ45 on each end.
I then have my MD-100A8X desk mic connected to the Control RRC here in my apartment.
I have a spare run of the mill patch cable with an RJ-45 connector on each end, was a left over router cable, I'd like to take the cyber Acoustics' mic plug, 3.5MM and take one of the RJ-45's off the spare cable and join the 2 cables together.
Is it possible? Would it work? Would the switch on the headset activate the PTT by just switching on and off the way it works when connected to a PC?
If I was to connect this modified headset to the Yaesu FT-450 directly: again by just switching on and off the switch on the headset, would it activate the Yaesu's PTT?
