Hi Tom and list,
My suggestion is to buy a three - prong electrical plug, carefully attach
the insulated ground wire to the ground terminal. The three prongs will hold
the plug into the wall outlet better than a banana plug. Plus you should
have something more to grip. Please do not buy any plug that has metal on
it, other than screws, insulated dead-front plugs should be available at
the local hardware store. I used to work for the government in the
electrical connector area. The grounding pin on a three-prong plug is
designed to work well in an outlet. Of course upgrading your electrical
outlets to better than the 75-cent residential ones would also help. This is
also predicated on the ground of the outlet being correctly wired. You could
use a beep-type continuity checker to verify that wire is connected to
proper terminal, without being plugged in, of course. I didn't mean to get
into Electrical safety 101, but better safe than cooked ham.
Lynn
