Hi Lou,
I think when Elecraft developed the K2 they had a little outboard box that 
could read all of the menus in that rig and gave it's output in CW.

Could perhaps a more modern version of this box be built that would output 
in synthetic speech like what reads the Kenwood menus on some of their rigs.

It wouldn't even have to be compiled speech which is expensive and what the 
phone company uses.

I'd much rather be interested in some small outboard box that would do the 
work rather than using a laptop to control the rig.

Just a few thoughts to ponder.
