Hello list members,

First I want to say thank you for all of the great information found here. I think what I've read has helped me pick out the two rigs I plan to purchase in November or December of this year.

For HF I'm going to get a Kenwood TS480SAT.

For two meters and 440 I plan to get a Kenwood TMV71A.

I had reasoned thusly.

I'd considered getting a Yaesu FT817ND or a FT897D I have two keypads that will work with those rigs.

What dissuaded me was that even though I might have basic control of many of these rigs functions I'd still have to run a computer program like Simon Brown's commander software.

Incidentally this program will also work with the FT897D.

Now to my questions?

Can someone on this list either send me the most recent copies of Arcp-480 and Mcp-2A or point me in the direction to the links so I might download my own copy of these control programs?

Particularly with Mcp-2A I got a 404 page error message when I tried to download the file.

I already have the full manual as an MS Word file for the TS480SAT.

I have not been able to come up with a manual for the TMV71A yet.

Also is there any listing of the menus for the TS480SAT that give the default settings? The manual I've downloaded gives all of the menus but no default settings.

I still plan to run semi-qrp from my apartment.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Also are there any audio tutorials for these rigs?

I understand that Handihams may have these but I must renew my membership to them.

Although I like the idea of operating a Yaesu rig either from a keypad or from a computer to manipulate the menus I still feel strongly that I must purchase my new gear from a company like Kenwood that has done so much recently to give us complete access to menus and other rig functions.

Best 73's,

Eric
