Tom, does your new Baofeng talk about the same as the original one, e.g. the
same level of menu and frequency selections, etc.? I like the one I have,
but I sure wish it talked a lot more.

Subject: Baofeng bf-f8

I've gotten a Baofeng bf-f8 which is their second generation uv-5r. Its
frequency ranges both tx and rx are 136-174 and 405-520 mHz. It actually
appears to be a uv-5r (I have one of those also) except that it is about
half an inch shorter, does not have the "flashlight" on top, and does not
have the band button. It appears that it is slightly better made but that
could just be the two samples I have to work with. Its available on Amazon
for $33.95 with free shipping. I think you can still get the original uv-5r
for about $31.08 but, of course, prices change from day to day on Amazon.

Tom
