For Keith:

I would run the open wire to just outside the house and terminate in a 
balun.  Then, run coax through the house to your shack.
I have a end loaded doublet about 120 feet physical length, then loaded 
with 20 feet wrapped in coils at each end.  This is fed with 300 ohm window 
line down to the entrance point.  Here it runs to a 4-1 balun then 9913 
coax runs to the rig.
Works well on all bands 160 through ten.
