Henry, I never owned the 440 but I know the speech board. I'm not sure where
the board is mounted in the 440 but on one side of the board, the VS-1,
there is a pot to adjust the volume. It just takes a small screwdriver.

Subject: ts440 speech board question

Hi, I have a very long-lived ts440s with the speech board on board. It
always had a fairly low level of audio. Now, it's as loud as it can go,
presumably, too loud for comfort. How difficult is it to adjust the audio
level? How do you do it? Thanks
