Sure, Alan. ... If you want to, that would be great. .. And, thanks for the
very kind offer.

My home qth is Big Rapids, Michigan, which is in the west-central part of
the state--about 55 miles north of Grand Rapids, about 100 miles northwest
of Lansing, and about 90 miles from Kalamazoo.

I have quite a stack of cards that I've accumulated over the past 4 or 5
years to which I have not responded.

Again, I do respond to cards for which I get direct return qsl requests, but
these go above and beyond that.

So as to not clutter up the list, please reply to my personal g-mail
address:

And, if someone does become available and is willing to help, please have
them use this address as well, and I can take it from there.

Thanks again!

Tom, if you like, I could ask Stan if he knows any QSL managers that you
could contact. I know that Stan wouldn't be able to do it now because he
will be moving from Honolulu to Florida on August 3. Stan and his wife are
in the process of boxing up everything that they want to ship to Florida,
including Stan's station. He is down to a bare bones station, and even that
will be packed up in another month or so. But, he may be able to recommend
a QSL manager, so just let me know and I'll ask him.

Thanks, Alan.

I have actually thought of a QSL manager as another way to deal with this
issue, but am not sure how to go about locating one, especially in my area
of the country where the level of ham radio activity, and the number of
active hams, isn't as great as it used to be.

Of course, I do completely realize that your QSL manager doesn't have to be
physically near you, so I may want to broaden my efforts at trying to find
one in the coming months.

At the same time, though, I like to not have to rely on someone else's help
for these sorts of things, and try to limit the help I request to only the
most pressing situations, like assistance with antenna instalations.

Hello Tom, I understand fully when you mention about feeling guilty for not
having sent QSL cards to everyone that sent you theirs. What I have done,
and this may not be practical for everyone, is to use a QSL manager. If you
look at my QRZ page, you will see that it gives the address info for sending
cards to me. My good friend Stan offered to handle my QSL-ing without
charge. You can't beat that with a stick. Stan also designed my cards, and
even ordered 1000 of them thru the same guy that he uses for his own cards.
Stan is also QSL manager for Tov, T32TV, and he gets Tov's cards made up at
the same place. As you also state, electronic QSL-ing will eventually work,
but it isn't totally smooth yet. Good luck finding out a good method for
your cards.

Subject: Return QSL Card Obligations

Hello, everyone.

I realize that I'm bringing up a topic here on which there will be many
differing opinions, but it is becoming an increasing problem for me, and I
suspect I'm not alone.

The problem is with printed QSL cards, and the extent one should feel
obligated to reciprocate with a return QSL.

Back in the day, I was actually pretty good at return QSLing, although I'm
sure some of the cards I received slipped through the cracks.

Even today, I'm good at return QSLing for cards that I receive for which I'm
directly asked to return qsl.

However, in recent years, I have gotten many qsl cards (including quite a
few from the buro) on which there is no indication that a return qsl is
needed. Of course, the polite thing to do would be to send return qsls, and
I even have a QSL template in Microsoft Word format that I can use. But
that requires sighted assistance for printing and such that is just not as
available to me as used to be the case.

One of these days, I intend to get fully up and running on LOTW, and my hope
is that electronic QSLing will solve some of this issue, but for now, I'm
not exactly sure when that will happen, due to the many other projects I
have on my plate which must take precedence.

To be honest, I'm feeling somewhat guilty about not return QSLing for the
many cards I have now received, which is why I'm writing this e-mail. I
just wonder what others have done over the years.
