Well, that's why there are so many radios on the market,  everyone gets to
use what they want. Some people like the separate head, others don't, some
like a lot of bells and whistles, others don't. I just happen to be one that
would hate to have a separate head so I just won't ever buy a TS-480. From
what I'm hearing, they're really not selling that well so maybe they'll come
up with another version where you have a choice like the 706 and most of
Kenwood's UHF/VHF radios now.
