You are so right. I know people with 40 year old fridges and other
appliances that work like new. I know people with less than 10 year old
appliances that are on their last legs. My mother's microwave is 21 years
old and going strong. Since I moved out of my mother's house almost 6 years
ago, I'm on my third one as of last month. Granted the first one was a real
cheap one and I didn't expect it to last all that long but still, that
looked spectacular when it let go and the last one didn't look spectacular
from what I'm told but there was a nice hole in the bottom. I don't think
the fridge that was here when I moved in was all that old when we moved in
and I had to replace it last winter. I'm kind of glad my washing machine,
with minor issues is 15 years old, it almost makes me wonder if the minor
issues are worth fixing. Much newer and I just wouldn't bother.

Subject: Re: I t repairing coffee pot

the heating element is burnt out...toss it and buy a new one...coffee makers
are pretty much disposable these days.
It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that parts aren't available for the
unit.
Companies simply replace, they do not repair for warranty claims.
And sadly, gone are the days when a kitchen appliance would last 20
years...like my dad's old toaster that made toast at least twice a day for
more than 20 years...after that, he's had 4 in 15 years.
I've got a fridge in my house that is the main kitchen fridge...it was made
in the early 90's, so more than 20 years old...it's still ticking along
beautifully...though it likely sucks down electricity like a pig. On the
other side of the coin, we buy fridges on a weekly basis in my company and I
see 3 and 4 year old fridges totally failing.
They won't even fix them, we just take the broken one back and collect a new
one.

Hi

Any ideas on what is wrong with my coffee pot? The light works but the hot
p=
ad stays cold and it does not make hot water. It's a drip style machine.

Any ideas are appreciated.
