Hi
Although lots of the info you see hear can be a bit intimidating, remember,
you learn gradually. You don't just take a radio out of the box and
instantly know everything. There are lots of quick start guides available
which tell you enough to get you on and started but not so much that you get
a head ache.
You really need to initially think about whether you want a hand held radio
or something larger that will work on the desk or in the car. Kenwood is by
far the radio of choice although I love my ict90.
The tmg7a will allow you to hear two bands at once, but I think the 707a
gives you access to more info.
Remember you have to walk before you run and if you don't feel like running
just have a great time on your local repeater.
