Harvey:

The program that stops that nagging Get Windows 10 message from appearing is
called the GWX Control Panel Program.

The executable file can be found at:

http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/GWX_control_panel.exe

This was the only way I could prevent that message from popping up
constantly on my Windows 7 home PC. When you want to upgrade to Windows 10,
which I'll probably do this summer, all you have to do is access the program
again, follow the prompts, and tell it when you are ready to do the upgrade.

If your friend needs them, I have some hints and tips for using and better
understanding the program, which I can send to you privately if you want to
give me your personal e-mail address.

Just let me know.

I know what you're saying. On the surface, ten seems to be a bit more
stable than 8.1, but I may be speaking too soon.

Also, doesn't anyone have the name of that utility program that stops that
"Get Windows ten tip," icon from popping up? I don't need it any more, but
I have a friend who would like it. I had it, but I can't remember the name
of the program, and I may have lost it when I had to buy the new hard drive
and they copied the files over from my old one which started to fail. If
someone can either give me the name of it or send a link to it I'll forward
it to her as she has no current plans to go to Windows ten from 7. Thanks
and 73.
Harvey

So far after 6 months I have no problems with IE11. Until JAWS can handle
EDGE - I cannot comment.

Hi guys!

It is a curious thing. XYL complained the other night that she coulnd't use
on line banking on her Windows ten machine. I figured the reason was the
edge browser, but other browsers made no difference. The log in link just
wasn't there any more. She managed it on her laptop running Windows 7. Stay
tuned for more bad news I reckon.

73,
Dave

Harvey

I had the same concerns as you when I went to Windows 10 6 months ago.
During the 6 months I only had to back out 1 update. The problem was caused
by a poorly tested Microsoft change. The change effected all users of
Outlook and Microsoft provided the instructions on how to backout the
problem within hours on their Website. Microsoft also provides a very
detailed description of what each update is for on their Website.

All in All I am happy with Windows 10, Yes there is a learning curve (Not
Terrible).

I do not remember if you are a JAWS user - There is a Yahoo Group called
Windows-10-and-Jaws that has many Tutorials. If you are not a JAWS User the
detailed information is still very helpful.

Hello everyone. As of today, I am not using Windows ten. So far, so good
but I haven't really worked with it thoroughly yet. The only thing I don't
like about it updating itself is that it automatically installs both the
important and optional updates, so if there is one we can't use or that
interferes with our software I guess you have to go back in and remove it.
But if anyone has any tips to make it easier or more accessible let me know.
Thanks.
