I don't want to set up a repeater I just want to use my radio to connect to
a IRLP repeater to talk to others. Do I still need a pc running linix just
for that?

You'd need a computer that can run Linux if you don't have one already,
you'd need their interface board they won't let you use any others. I looked
in to it for my repeater so I'd have more control than I would with lowlife
link and no one could get on with just a computer but financially I gave up
on it for now because the $120 at least for the board is way out of my
budget right now. Sad thing is I have everything for lowlife link and could
even add it to my winlink gateway computer but I'm not dealing with people
getting on via computer and I want it more for repeater linking than
anything else, local repeater linking for drills and disasters, I don't want
some moron getting on from another country or across this one bragging about
a contact they made and how no one needs hf and all that like happened when
I had my simplex link up 7 or 8 years ago. Thank god I haven't heard that
person or the one he was talking to anywhere since.
