I got the following note from Doug Smith at Ten-Tec.

It's much more positive for us than the one I got from sales guy.

    Hi Buddy,

Thanks for your note. Obviously it is all
too easy for equipment designers to forget
about our blind and deaf friends. I will take
up this subject at work today (Wednesday).
We would need a way to turn the audible
prompts on and off, since not everyone would
want them. I think it has been frustrating to
the programmer on this particular radio that
he doesn't have more buttons to use for
things like that.
The Argo V doesn't really have menus but
a few of the functions require more than one
key press to traverse. The CW keyer allows
you to set the speed, sidetone level and weighting,
for example. The order is fixed and repeats
exactly every time. You would be able to
memorize the sequence and I don't think it
would give you much trouble. In that example, an
audible prompt does appear at the sidetone
level step, as the sidetone comes on then.
Tactile feedback from the keys is quite
positive. I operate this rig mobile and I
find I can use all the functions without looking
at the radio with a little practice. I tend to
agree that audible feedback would be nice
for certain settings.

    73,

    Doug Smith, KF6DX

[My original note cut for brevity]
