The slotted nut that holds the mic connector on the front panel of the ts590 
is
not even close to the pin field of the connector.  The nut is outside of the 
connectors threaded shell.

    Yup!

I found the slots in the nut, and used a small screw-driver to turn the nut
until it was tight.

I was concerned for a while that I might hurt the pin connections on the
connector, but I guess they are independent of the nut.
