The filters are solder in, that's all I know. On a radio that size, anything 
solder in can't be any fun. I remember putting the filters in my TS-440 and 
that was no fun either but I did it. I should have kept that radio too, I'd 
hate to buy another one with out the filters and put them in ever again.
