Colin,

I'm not sure if this info is from the FCC or  just done by QRZ, but it's 
based on zip code of the station address.    Of course it's not giving the 
exact location of your house or your radio room within your house, so it's 
of little use to someone planning a bombing run on your qth, but to   point 
an HF beam, it's  fine.  There are sites to find your grid square or which 
way to point  a satellite antenna, all based on zip code.
