Gery, the TS-2000 has speech if you get the VS-3, I believe it is, speech
unit. It can also be controlled by a computer. If I do say so myself, a
very good program for controlling the 2000 is JJRadio, which is made for use
by a blind person. If you have the speech unit in the 2000 active, and are
using a computer at the same time, then yes, you'll hear both the radio and
the computer. You can get JJRadio free from http://www.jjshaffer.net.

My preference is to use a braille display with my computer, so I don't have
any speech going on while operating the radio. I keep both the speech in
the radio and the computer turned off. I find speech distracting while
using the rig.

I am thinking about investing in a ts2000. As a blind person how do you us=
e this radio? Does it have speech? I read that you can control it by a co=
mputer too. How does that work with the computer? Do you hear the radio a=
nd the computer speak at the same time? Just not sure how this all goes to=
gether. My icom 751A has speech but can't be controlled by computer like t=
he newer rigs. Any advice or input is appreciated.
