John next time you give something like echolink or irlp a try you might
think about getting an old commercial radio. I think they are made to stand
up  to the usage that they will get.  Something like a G.E. or Motoroal.  By
just having one frequency it is a lot easier to program them. Something else
that I have had good luck with is I have a computer, old 300 kHz, that run
echolink and nothing else.  I did it this way so I would not have any
conflicts with other program.  Thought I would give you something to think
about on a cold winter day.
