Hi Howard: 

I have the Yaesu FT-450 and no, I just remembered that the noise blanker is not turned off. 
I don't know why I had it on, not like it made a difference any way, except if this is whats causing my noise in CW then obviously I should turn it off! (HIHI) 
I don't think that the noise blanker is vary effective in the 1000to 1500 dollar rigs any how.
