Ok, Scott. And here's another site you might want to check out:

 In particular, check out the training link. Lots of info there about 
trouble-shooting. I don't know which NlS library you're affiliated with but 
I know that all of us here in the states are connected to one branch or 
another, even though we may download everything as I do. Look toward the 
bottom of the BARD home page and It should mention one of them. Then, 
perhaps you can call them or email bard support and they'll talk you through 
some things. That would at least save you from having to ship it. With no 
moving parts in the thing, I'm confident the problem can be found and fixed. 
One more thing, and you've probably already done it but make sure your
