ok.  makes some sense.  However, the 6 to one ratio will only hold true at 
the frequency where the hamsticks are resonant.
Are you using one of the hamstick dipole adapters?  If so, aren't they set 
up to be fed with coax?  In which case, just leave well enough alone and 
feed with coax as they intended.
