Hi Bill, Welcome Back!  I've never used the HF6A Kenwood rig, but have and 
thoroughly enjoy, the Icom IC-T90A.
Also, in time, You may very well be able to also do some HF operating from 
your apartment, if that''s something of interest to you.  More Later, and 
you'll find some good, knowledgeable, and more than willing to help, folks
