I think the basic reason why there is less activity with ham radio is
because people don't have hobbies any more.

Adults are working 60 hour weeks and don't have the spare time they had in
the past.

Kids are dull,  really,  they have no interest in ANYTHING!  They just want
to be taken places and entertained.  They have no imaginations.  They are
convinced that everything in life is 'hard' and won't try.  Cynical,  YES!
