All this talk about antennas at school is interesting.  I went to the Louisiana School for the Blind from 1970 through 1979 and there was no ham radio.  It is rather strange around here.   Ham radio doesn't seem as popular in Louisiana as it does in say Minnasota, Iowa and some of the other states.
