In the WinAmp configuration, have you assigned the file types you want
WinAmp to play to the program?  What access system do you use and do you
have the appropriate set files or scripts for WinAmp?  WinAmp isn't the
easiest application to use with speech, but lots of us are using it.  Don't
disable your firewall under any circumstances ... it's not necessary and
will only open you up to things a lot worse than WinAmp not working.
