do ou  want to know specifically about the vx7r? ir so you should go get vx7r commander which is accessible and works great. in fact it can mak the vx7r more accessible cause you can resurrect the my menu feature in place of the useless wires internet key which will make it do a quick jump to whatever menu you specify. I used it to tai eke directly to the tone setting menu and it was awesome back when i till used my vc7r. hard to justify replacing the battery for that old ht when a new ht is about the same price. although the vx7r hs a MUCh bette receiver than the baofeng ever thought of. I log emu baofeng, but as a mobile it is useless even with a decent antenna on the car. mobile flutter destroys the receive because the squelch open delay is way too long and the rig drops  the squelch closed instantly or close enough making mobile flutter destroy the ability to receive
