That's why I don't get on echolink, people use it for voice chat and now to
get on the air, so I just avoid the program. I generally get on HF anyway so
I can make the contacts there. I might put my echolink simplex link back up
some time but I'm really up in the air about it because I just don't know if
I want to.

hi John since these are alt features I described I'm sure that other speech
programs wouldn't effect it. Before I found out about the alt commands I
used my jaws curser. If you do that, then the answer is yes. It does effect
it with other speech software such as window eyes and simply talker only
because the way you navigate around those systems are different. Since these
are commands with in the echolink perimeters, I don't think it changes
anything so yes, as long as you memorize them, try it. as far as memorizing
node numbers, that's easy for me. I hardly ever use the rf to access them
and when I do, I'd sooner use the random connection feature just so I can
find someone to talk too on line. Instead of dialling a thousand nodes and
maybe getting a few answers here and there. It's very annoying listening to
someone touch toning all day on the repeater and you can tell they're hard
up for a contact. I like making my contacts directly on my pc because it's
not going out to (god knows how many) people who are listening on the link.
all the best, va3kky.
