Hello John, The tuner is the SGC 230 Auto ATU, The makers SGC have told
me that this unit can be used from home with the necessary grounding which I
have ten earth rods put into pairs fitted end to end making each rod eight
feet long, these are hammered in the ground with only 2 inches protruding
of which a very thick earth cable is connected so this makes five lengths of
earth wire going out from this box, I also have a ground wire from the rig
to an earth block then a long length of earth wire from the other side of
this going outside to another earth rod, it was done this way as I am on
the first floor of the house and from where the shack is a wire going
strait out the wall was to long As many hams have told me the length of
earth wire I am using from the rig would act like an antenna so we put a
connecter block between with some other components which improved every
thing. The antenna I am using is a long wire to the length that SGC have
told me. I am going to think about using some other way of tuning my wire
antenna this seems a lot of trouble.
