Well, fortunately for me, the TS590 I'm about to acquire already has the 
voice chip installed, so I should be ok.

These instructions are great, though, so hopefully, Butch and others will 
benefit from them.

installing the vgs1 board is a snap.  I got mine pre-installed by aes, but
it didn't work when I received it.
Had to open up the rig, pull and reinstall the board.

If memory serves, you take off the bottom with about a zillion screws.
Voice board is in the upper left hand corner.  It is a couple inches square,
and plugs on.  It was a very tight fit.
reseating the board solved the problem.  So, if it makes it easier, you can
install yourself.

I've got to adjust the high stability oscillator I ordered on mine.  That is
a solder in option, so I again let AES do it.
However, they didn't do the adjustment procedure apparently.
It's actually easy as well. Just got to get someone with eyes to locate the
slug for me.
all you do is set on wwv (highest freq you can receive), set rig for cw,
then press key and zero beat with sidetone.
Will let you know how it goes after I am finished.
