Are your web pages a connection to the world or a trap?

The world wide web opens the world of information to many people with
disabilities and almost makes print disabilities a thing of the past.
However, inappropriate web design may block access to your page by
persons with some disabilities. EASI (Equal Access to Software and
Information), a not-for-profit organization affiliated with the American
Association for Higher Education provides online workshops to present
design principles which will create universal access while still
permitting the use of graphics and permitting an attractive page.

EASI-WEB is a workshop on how to create web pages that are
both visually appealing and fully accessible to users with
print disabilities. This workshop is largely self-instruction
and self-paced, but it also includes easy interaction with
instructors and other HTML learners. EASI-WEB registration
will be $195 which covers a month-long workshop combining e-
mail and the web. It also includes valuable print materials that will
be sent to participants.

Three continuing education units are available through the Rochester
Institute of Technology.

The FCC is putting more emphasis for institutions to make the web and especially their web pages accessible to disabled web users. The workshop will include material from the Web Access Iniative sponsored by the world Wide Web Consortium. It will
include discussion of the most recent guidelines on html 4.0 and its accessibility features.

Next workshop is May 4.
