i tried using the drivers from the manufacturer's CD, and the latest
"detonator" ( i think it is v.3.5) from nvidia.com. its not a hardware
conflict problem, because the systems runs ok until i run 3d applications,
especially that "nearest" function. even that runs, for a few seconds, and
then locks up.

of course i didnt have another video card to try it... BUT: anyone knows of
any incompatibility, like the one with TNT and Ali chipset ?
