Hi Jim -- after doing some more tweaking of this one PC's modem settings, I
want to thank you and the other list members for pointing this out.  Looking
through all the tech specs before posting my initial post, I knew
theoretically, this was an impossibility. I had come to the conclusion that
something was amiss in the modem's setup. When you have to maintain four
different machines with different configurations daily, the simple things
sometimes slip by.  Thanks  to all. :-)
