Sorry if this is not Paleo but is in response to weight loss in America
and we hope weight loss everywhere else it is warranted.

>>That was a terribly biased and pitiful thing to say against being
overweight. Painful to look at? Shame on you both!

>>>Snowlight

Shame on the food pyramid and the fat-free diets that are causing
obesity in epidemic proportions in the US. Shame on anyone who thinks
fat or obese people are comfortable trying to breath as they walk any
distance, get in and out of vehicles, or trying to manage through their
day without pain and exhaustion. We have seen a few fat people who seem
to be comfortable although they have other underlying health problems
that must be painful. We will reiterate that fat is painful to look
at. We did not say they were not beautiful, intelligent, wonderful
people. We said there is pain there and it hurts to see fat people in
pain, physical and emotional and therefore is painful to look at.

>>Such "Ugly Laws" were created in hopes of
protecting the delicate sensibilities of well-to-do women taking part
in the common mid- to late-nineteenth century social practice of
promenading.

>>]v[arsha, chubby AND crippled, in Texas
[hide your eyes, she travels and may
be coming to a city near YOU!]

We did not say Fat was Ugly. We hope you do not mean that those laws
should be imposed now on the chubby and crippled. We have many
beautiful friends and family members that are overweight. They are also
usually ill and uncomfortable. We often attempt to discuss better ways
of eating with them (because we are not well-to-do women who promenade
around obscuring our eyes from people). We did not say anything about
chubby or crippled people. Chubby is not painful to look at. Sometimes
it even looks vibrant and well suited for the individual. Clearly, we
were referring to the severly obese Fat Advocate on the 48 hours program
who enjoys being fat and recruits other obese individuals to feel that
Fat is good. These people will continue to suffer from illness and ill
health because of it. That is painful to see.

>>With hope for greater compassion and respect for ourselves and others,

>>Becky Coleman

We have great compassion and respect for others. That does not mean
somethings can not pain us. It pains us to see starving children in
China (or whereever Mom said they were ;-}) as well as diseased
individuals, and yes the obese. We still love to reach out and help
those in need. We feel fat and obese people are in need but we respect
their decision to stay as they are if they want.

>>>Skinny being beautiful and healthy is a misconception. Just because
one
is skinny does not make them healthy. i have known many a skinny person

with health problems. Graves Disease, diabetes, cancer, all sorts of
auto immune diseases... shall I go on? I would have to say being at
ideal body weight AND being healthy is beautiful. Not JUST being
skinny.

>>Trish Tipton

This may have been poorly worded as we were referring mainly to the Fat
Advocate that thought Fat was healthy and beautiful. We meant to make a
correlation to that statement and our position that skinny (by that we
mean not Fat) is beautiful also and healthy. We understand we excluded
chubby, large framed and different body styles. That is because we are
skinny 115 lbs and we think it is healthy for us. It suits our body
frame perfectly and appears to be our ideal weight. Many a fat person
has called us skinny. We never call a fat person fat. (Except Fatty
Advocate who loves being called Fat ;-}).

No apologies for the pain we see in fat people. Sometimes yes the pain
is also due to the pain we see in their faces. Good Luck to all fat
people with their endeavors to lose weight.
