Leasa,
If you have the color options and clicked on 256, you must have only
clicked on OK, which only changes it for the current session. You must
click on Apply, then OK to get a permanent change. Or am I too simplistic?

Karl,
I checked the color options under settings. I have three options 16, 256,
or high color 16 bit. I have tried to change the settings to 256 or high
color 16 bit. The system requires a shut down, which I do. It starts up
again, but nothing has changed.
